School Caretaker
Full Time (37 hours), Permanent Post
Grade 3, SCP 4 – 6, SALARY (£24,404 - £25,183)
Required April 2025. The Governors of Neville’s Cross Primary School & Nursery are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic caretaker to join our friendly, hardworking school.

Our school Caretaker will help to provide a warm, safe, clean and secure environment in which children and staff can work effectively. They will carry out the full range of duties, as detailed within the Caretaking Staff Handbook, to ensure high standards of cleanliness and oversee the general security and maintenance of school premises. This role includes handyperson activities e.g. basic carpentry and plumbing tasks and some supervision of school cleaning staff.
Our school caretaker will act as the designated key holder for the school premises and be identified as ‘first call out’ contact, responding to security alarm or other call outs in accordance with agreed procedures. As such, they may be required to work some additional times to attend call outs and in addition to accommodate lettings and out of hours school events e.g. shows, fairs and discos. Payments will be made for overtime duties.
You will be required to work ‘split shifts’ to coincide with the beginning and end of the school day; 6:30am-10:30am then 2:30pm-6:00pm.
Good basic literacy and numeracy skills are important along with a willingness to attend and complete courses relating to cleaning, caretaking and health.
This position is whole time, which means that you will be in attendance at work all year round (52 weeks a year) and will have an annual leave entitlement (26 days if you have less than 5 years’ continuous local government service, 31 days if you have in excess of 5 years’ continuous local government service.)

Required from 7th April 2025
Neville’s Cross Primary School is seeking to appoint two flexible, reliable and enthusiastic cleaners to join our hardworking team. The successful applicants should be hard working and be able to maintain high standards of cleanliness within designated areas of school, paying attention to detail. This role includes duties such as vacuuming, dusting and cleaning of washable areas, tables and chairs.
Previous experience of cleaning roles and a good understanding of cleaning chemicals and equipment would be desirable.
The successful applicants will be required to work afternoons from 4:00pm until 6:00pm, a total of 10 hours per week.

Tea Club Supervisory Assistant
Working Pattern: Part time - term time only, 10 hours per week, 3:30pm – 5:30pm, Monday to Friday
Salary: Grade 1, SCP 3, £24,027 (Pro Rata)
Our Governors are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed Tea Time Club supervisory assistant with effect from 31st March 2025.
The successful candidate will have experience of working with children, be flexible, be able to work well within a team and be willing to undertake training including the safeguarding of children. Duties include; supervising children during tea time club, both within the school building and outside in the playground, communicating effectively with children, maintaining a clean and tidy tea club environment and maintaining good behaviour according to the school’s behaviour policy.

This position is paid whole time and with retainer adjustments applied to periods of school closure. You will not be required to work during the school closure periods however your salary in these periods will be adjusted accordingly in line with the retainer regulations as specified in the National Joint Council (NJC) Green Book agreement.
